Alex Verdugo

Sports Performance Coach

 

Alex Verdugo brings over two decades of baseball experience, including a distinguished career as a Division I collegiate athlete and two years in professional baseball. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Multidisciplinary Studies from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV), where he was honored as the Killers Golf UTRGV Student-Athlete of the Week in March 2023. 

Throughout his collegiate journey, Alex showcased his talents at premier Division I programs, including Long Beach State (2018), UNLV (2021), and UTRGV (2023–2024). Overcoming Tommy John surgery in 2018, he transitioned to a sidearm pitching style, achieving velocities up to 93 mph. His resilience and skill earned him WAC Pitcher of the Week honors in March 2023, and he led his team in strikeouts among relievers that season. 

Currently, Alex is pursuing a Master’s degree in Sports Performance with a concentration in Biomechanics at Point Loma Nazarene University. His practical experience includes work in a biomechanics lab affiliated with the San Diego Padres, where he utilized advanced technologies such as markerless motion capture, Qualisys, NordBord, ForceFrame, force plates, and Velocity-Based Training (VBT).

With over a decade of lifting and performance training experience, Alex combines his extensive knowledge of biomechanics, data analytics, and athletic performance to assist athletes in optimizing their mechanics, preventing injuries, and achieving peak performance on the field.
